Everything New Geeks Need To Stream In 2022

It’s a golden era for geeks of all sorts of fandom. Whether you’re big into superhero comic books, grand sci-fi space operas, or fantasy sagas, there’s plenty of geek shows to catch up on with streaming services. Consider that so many streaming services can now better showcase the most geeky of series that are not bound by network standards. That being said, it can seem tough to keep up with it all. So if you’re seeking to get caught up on the biggest fandoms, here are some must-watch geek titles for 2022.
The Book of Boba Fett (Disney+)
Ever wondered what happened to the bounty hunter Boba Fett after the events of Return of the Jedi? Most assumed he was dead after being tossed into a pit during that movie. The Book of Boba Fett, however, continues his story when he makes his escape from Tatooine. Taking place between the events of Return of the Jedi and The Force Awakens, this Star Wars miniseries is created by Jon Favreau (The Mandalorian) and features Temuera Morrison reprising the titular role, having previously voiced the character and played Boba’s father Jango in the Star Wars movie Attack of the Clones.

Peacemaker (HBO Max)
If you enjoyed James Gunn’s recent action movie The Suicide Squad, you’ll definetely want to check out his spin-off series that he wrote. The series takes place after the movie where the severely injured anti-hero Peacemaker is revived for more missions under Task Force X. John Cena reprises the role of the stumbling and nationalistic jerk Peacemaker who has to learn from his mistakes and maybe become a better hero. But that may be a tougher task when he’s dealing with a possible alien invasion and trying to connect with the other costumed characters of Judomaster and Vigilante.

Moon Knight (Disney+)
The Marvel Cinematic Universe continues to expand on the small screen with this Marvel miniseries. Moon Knight will follow the adventures of Marc Spector, a mercenary who is struggling with his multiple personalities. But when he becomes infatuated with Egyptian gods, he gains powers that transform him into the hero Moon Knight. He will, however, have to deal with an evil cult that attempts to push him to the dark side. The series stars Oscar Isaac, Ethan Hawke, and Gaspard Ulliel. You can stream it on Disney+.

Harley Quinn Season 3 (HBO Max)
Even though the Harley Quinn animated series was exclusive to the now-discontinued DC Universe streaming service, it became such a hit that HBO Max just couldn’t ignore it. The show will continue this series with the adult animated adventures of the villain. Season 2 ended with her finally realizing her romantic feelings for Poison Ivy. But will their new relationship complicate their ensemble of villains seeking to prove themselves? The animated series has a lot of fun mocking the DC Comics lore while featuring a fantastically comedic voice cast that includes Kaley Cuoco, Lake Bell, Ron Funches, Tony Hale, Jason Alexander, J. B. Smoove, and Alan Tudyk.

Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power (Amazon Prime)
Lord of the Rings fans may be excited to learn that Amazon Prime is investing in quite the epic saga based on J.R.R Tolkein’s classic series of fantasy novels. The show will take place many decades before the events of Lord of the Rings and tell a tale of warring kingdoms fighting for control of Middle Earth. The show is one of the most expensive streaming series to date, with a budget at roughly half a billion dollars.

Star Trek: Strange New World (Paramount+)
Star Trek fans who desired to see more of the short-lived Captain Pike era for the USS Enterprise will certainly want to check out this side-series. The show, taking place between the events of Discovery and The Original Series, will find Pike, Number One, and Spock exploring the galaxy for new life and planets aboard the iconic starship. The series will star Anson Mount, Rebecca Romijn, Ethan Peck, Babs Olusanmokun, Christina Chong, and Celia Rose Gooding.
