Screenwriter John Logan recently spoke with IGN. Logan will not just be returning for Bond 24, but also Bond 25, and he revealed that the next 2 movies would build upon themes established in Skyfall.
"I grew up on the Bond movies, the first one I saw was Diamonds Are Forever, when I was a kid. I just loved them to pieces. I love all the elements, from the books, mostly from the novels; going back to Ian Flemming is where I started with Skyfall, and there's certainly elements of the movies and the novels that we've brought into the new movie, as they did into Skyfall.
My goal is to write a great movie that's appropriate, to build on what we did on Skyfall, but make it its own unique animal. The themes, ideas and the characters from Skyfall can obviously continue on, because it is a franchise, and it is an ongoing story. So I think there's resonance from Skyfall in the new movie."With the ending of Skyfall being a direct nod to the classic adventures of the 1960's, and knowing that the long standing lawsuit over the character Ernst Stavro Blofeld and the SPECTRE organisation is finally resolved, would it be likely that Blofeld may be back in Bond 24? Logan teased...
"You know, I think our villain's appropriate to the story we're telling."The screenwriter was clearly hesitant to reveal any more information, he joked that...
"Sam would rappel through the window and kill me. All I can say about Bond is that I'm happily writing it."Sam, of course, is Sam Mendes. Director of Skyfall and also returning for Bond 24 (not confirmed for Bond 25 as yet). The writer/director team are currently working together on the new Showtime psychosexual thriller Penny Dreadful, with ex-Bond Timothy Dalton, but as soon as they finish work on that they will re-unite with Daniel Craig and focus their efforts on Bond.
We can't wait.
More news as we get it.
