STAR WARS news round-up - W/E Jan 25th

Episode VII Fan Art
Our weekly round-up of quick fire news from the Star Wars universe.

  • In an interview with TheWrap JJ Abrams said the Star Wars Episode VII script was now completed -
“We’re working really hard and we’ve got our script and we’re in deep prep. Full steam ahead, y’know”
He also confirmed he is talking with Jesse Plemons about a role, whilst on the same day Plemons denied his involvement and said it was just a rumour. I'm guessing JJ is telling the truth here, he has at least spoke with Plemons but possibly not offered him a role, and Jesse Plemons was just being very professional.
  • Carrie Fisher revealed in an interview that filming for the new movie will begin in March/April.
  • Mark Hamill took part in a Reddit AMA event this week. He answered all kinds of questions, from favourite flavour of soup to who would win in a fight between Batman and Luke Skywalker. He also claimed that nothing had been decided in regard to his involvement with Episode VII...
Q: How much are you allowed to tell us about your involvement in the upcoming Star Wars movies?

A: Haha. I’m not being coy, really. When I find something out, I’ll let everybody know. But nothing has been decided yet.
  • There's an interesting interview with Simon Kinberg, executive producer of the new Star Wars Rebels animated show, in which he discusses the inspiration for the look of the show stems from unused concept art designed in the 1970s by Ralph McQuarrie.
