SEAN PERTWEE cast as Alfred in GOTHAM

Set to premier on Fox in the 2014/15 TV season, Gotham is based upon characters published by DC Comics and will feature rookie Detective James Gordon (the recently cast Benjamin McKenzie), a young Bruce Wayne and explore the origin stories of many of the villains we know from the Batman comics.

No word on who will be portraying Bruce Wayne/Batman as yet but we now know that his butler, Alfred Pennyworth, will be played Sean Pertwee.

Described as a tough-as-nails ex-Marine from East London, we think Sean Pertwee is perfect for the role and with every new casting announcement we're getting more and more excited for this show.

Rounding up the other Gotham casting announcements:
Robin Lord Taylor has been cast as Oswald Cobblepot, aka The Penguin. With the brains of a chess grandmaster and the morals of a jackal, Cobblepot is a low-level psychopath on gangster Fish Mooney's payroll who hides his sadistic lust for power behind an exquisitely polite demeanor.

Erin Richards, who appeared in both Merlin and Misfits, has been cast as Barbara Kean, an emergency room doctor and fiancée of James Gordon who stands by her future husband despite the increasing corruption in Gotham.

Zabryna Guevara will play Captain Essen, Gordon's boss at the GCPD Homicide Squad who balances the two worlds of police and politics with a Machiavellian skill that's as much corporate litigator as cop.

Are you looking forward to Gotham?
