Shia LaBeouf eh? Is he having some kind of breakdown?
After all that recent plagiarism business and his announcement last month that he'd be retiring from public life, he's only gone and out-LaBeouf'ed himself.
As he arrived at the Berlin Film Festival yesterday, LaBeouf wore a paper bag on his head with the words 'I am not famous anymore' written on it.
As if that wasn't strange enough, during the press conference a reporter asked him a question along the lines of what it was like acting in a movie that required so many sex scenes, LeBeouf responded "When the seagulls follow the trawler, it's because they think sardines will be thrown into the sea. Thank you very much." (an Eric Cantona quote I believe?). He then got up and left.
This isn't normal behaviour is it?
Now, I'm not trying to knock Shia LeBeouf for being crazy here, I genuinely think he's having some real emotional problems, he maybe on the verge of a flow blown breakdown and left unchecked this could be disastrous. Many actors and actresses struggle to cope with fame often leading them to drink and drugs, the recent deaths of Philip Seymour Hoffman and Cory Monteith are proof of that.
I know LeBeouf gets a heck of a lot of stick in the press, much of it is no doubt warranted, but I remember when he was just a kid, I thought he was great in Holes and showed so much promise. Clearly growing up in Hollywood has not been good for him, and no matter what you think of Shia LeBeouf and the movies he's starred in, I'm sure none of you want to see another person driven to destruction by the pressures of fame.
I'm sure his recent behaviour is all a cry for help, let's face it, turning up to a film's premiere with a paper bag on your head is not something a stable person is likely to do is it? When combined with everything else I don't think you can just write this off as a publicity stunt. I think it's time for those close to Shia LeBeouf to step in and help him. It might be good for him to take a year out, move away from Hollywood and just enjoy life a bit.
