Oscar-winning British film director Richard Attenborough has died at the age of 90.
Lord Attenborough had a glittering career on both sides of the camera that included acting in films such as The Great Escape and Jurassic Park, and directing Gandhi.
I make no excuse for loving his performance as Kris Kringle in the remake of Miracle on 34th Street, a film that finds its way onto my family's TV screen every festive season.
His son told the BBC that Lord Attenborough died at lunchtime on Sunday.
