DOCTOR WHO - 5 Great Moments From TIME HEIST

Andrew Jero counts down five of the best moments from Time Heist.

Starting us off at number 5 we have the Doctors remarks towards Clara at the beginning of the episode.

And now CLARA emerges from the bedroom. Dressed up for a night out - full make-up, heels, killer outfit.
CLARA
Sorry, but as you can see, I've got plans.
THE DOCTOR
Have you?
CLARA
Look at me.
THE DOCTOR
Yeah, okay.
He looks at her, blankly, not sure what to expect.
CLARA
No, look at me.
THE DOCTOR
Yep, looking.
CLARA
(Can't he see??)
...Seriously?
THE DOCTOR

...Why has your face all coloured in?
THE DOCTOR
Are you taller?
CLARA
Heels.
THE DOCTOR
What, do you have to reach a a high shelf?
CLARA
Right, got to go. Going to be late.
THE DOCTOR
For a shelf??
On to number 4. A possible Paradise Towers reference. In Paradise Towers the Doctor was believed to be The Great Architect who really was named Kroagnon, here in Time Heist, the Doctor knows that he hates the architect, and it was eventually revealed that he was the architect all along. Was this reference purely a coincidence? I don’t know. But I like to think that Steve Thompson was making a deliberate choice to reference Paradise Towers here.

Number 3. “Those aren’t tears, it’s soup.” Another chilling moment that seems to be constant throughout this season. First we had the “It’s a face” moment in Deep Breath, followed by the “Top layer, if you want to say a few words” line in reference to Ross’ death during Into the Dalek. Then we had “if you were real you’d be dead in six months.” “I am real.” “Bye!” moment from Robot of Sherwood and finally the “Am I safe” moment from Listen. The trend is continued in Time Heist and I wonder if it will become a running motif throughout the rest of this thirty-fourth season.
CLARA
We've got to help him.
THE DOCTOR
He's gone already, it's over.
CLARA
He's in agony, look at him.
On the suited man, tears streaming down his face.
THE DOCTOR
Those aren't tears, Clara. That's soup.

Now for number 2 and the return of the reoccurring question, “Am I a good man?”. This time Saibra gives us an answer...
SAIBRA

When you meet the Architect, promise me something. Kill him.
On THE DOCTOR. A shake of his head.
THE DOCTOR

I hate him but I can't make that promise.
She stares at him. Almost smiles.
SAIBRA

Oh! A good man. I left it late to meet one of those.

For me though, I think the best moment in Time Heist was when the Doctor sends the Tellers to a calm quiet planet where they can rebuild their species in peace. Now despite the Teller looking unusually like the female reproductive system, it is one of my favorite monsters in recent years. Fortunately what it happens to look like was not emphasized as it was in a certain Tom Baker story! If you haven’t seen The Creature From the Pit, just skip ahead to about halfway through part three and it’ll all make sense.

What were your favourite moments from Time Heist?
