Calling All Student Film Makers

Gail Williams has something that may be of interest to you...
Since so many of the readers here on WarpedFactor are interested in movies and TV, I figured a few of you might be interested in a talk about film production.

The University of Wales Trinity Saint David is hosting an event on 27th November 2015 in the Round Reading Room of the Alex building of the University in Swansea from 14:00 and 16:00. The film panel will talk about the making of the film ‘By Any Name’, an upcoming British action thriller film, based on the book of the same name by Katherine John, who also wrote the screenplay.

The panel will include Katherine John, Cengiz Dervis (via live link), Samira Mohamed Ali, Stuart McNeil and Euros Jones-Evans. So who are these people? Katherine is a writer based in Swansea. Cengiz is the lead actor and Samira the leading lady, but she’s a whole lot more too, she’s the producer of the film and works alongside director/executive producer Euros Jones-Evans in Tanabi Group, the production company also based in Swansea.

The event is aimed at students with an interest in media, drama, creative writing, art and design and multi-media, and will give a real insight into the media business. I recently spoke with Samira about the filming of By Any Name (details of which will be in a forthcoming article about the film itself as I don’t want to pre-empt anything from the panel), filmed in Swansea and Brecon on a micro-budget, amazingly this film was completed in just 16 days of principle filming.

For more information on the event check out the website:  http://lifedesign.uwtsd.ac.uk/film-panel-event-27th-november/

Oh - there is one other point that might interest a few of you. The Round Reading Room of the Alex building of the University of Wales Trinity Saint David might be better known to many of you as the library from the episodes, “Silence in the Library” and “Forest of the Dead” from David Tennant’s time as Doctor Who.

Gail Williams lives in her own private dungeon populated with all the weird and the wonderful she can imagine. Some of it’s very weird, and the odd bits and pieces are a bit wonderful. Well okay, she lives in Swansea with her husband and daughter. And the world’s most demanding cat. To find out more about Gail, check out www.gailbwilliams.co.uk - Dare you!
