LUCIFER #10 Review

Gail Williams reaches boiling point.

Okay, this is the story of rebirth. God’s coming back, but he’s coming back wrong.

Raphael was getting it on with Lorin, and they’ve both got a smile on their faces. For a few seconds anyway before Raphael is called away.

In Hell Lucifer battles Takehiko, and then Mazikeen. It seems her problem is that Lucifer left her, someone should have told him about a woman scorned. Now Angels are appearing in Hell, crying to the Glory of God - and blowing up. They might actually be bringing souls to rapture, but it’s not entirely clear.

It seems Lucifer has an answer to the question posed in issue 7, we might assume there is a Devil so God can demonstrate free will. But now God is back, dark and full of fire and brimstone, and there will be only one way - His way. Lucifer recognises this for what it is. God is taking away our free will.

But can He? Lucifer seems immune; Mazikeen has been diverted - by Lucifer’s kiss - how sweet! And Gabriel who was once beyond God’s mercy is now beyond his reach. I'm not entirely sure how Rosemary is getting away with it, but Izanami is getting a few demons to the safety of her Hell quickly enough.

Ah, it seems Rosemary didn’t survive, Takehiko killed her first and she’s just a ghost now. A ghost in Hell. That’s got to be a weird position, right? But Takehiko gets what he wanted, he gets to sit on the Throne of Hell.

Lucifer, Mazikeen and Gabriel head to Heaven, but find something different, something Lucifer made. Time to meet the narrator…

I have to say I am so annoyed that this issue stopped. I want to read on! I want to read the explanation of how and what Lucifer has made. I want to know what comes next. I’m pretty hopeful that what comes next will be excellent, but I can’t hold it back any longer, I have to give issue #10 of Lucifer the five out of five it deserves because I just couldn’t stop reading it.

Gail Williams lives in her own private dungeon populated with all the weird and the wonderful she can imagine. Some of it’s very weird, and the odd bits and pieces are a bit wonderful. Well okay, she lives in Swansea with her husband and daughter. And the world’s most demanding cat. To find out more about Gail, check out www.gailbwilliams.co.uk - Dare you!
