Two thumbs up for another day of Doctor Who...

Welcome to our daily round-up of the Doctor Who episodes which received their premiere broadcast on this day throughout the show's long history, along with anything else of note that may have taken place. You can click on any red text to read our full retrospectives/reviews for that episode, and note that all viewing figures listed are for UK broadcasts (unless otherwise stated).

June 23rd
Today in Doctor Who history we have one Classic and one Modern episode broadcast. The Classic being episode six of the Third Doctor adventure The Green Death which was broadcast on this day in 1973 and watched by 7 million viewers.

Then it's a jump of 34 years and we have John Simm's Master being driven mad by The Sound of Drums. Broadcast in 2007 at 7:15pm, this episode was watched by a mighty 7.51 million viewers.

Related Programming
If you turned over to BBC Three after The Sound of Drums you would've been watching that week's installment of Doctor Who Confidential, titled The Saxon Mystery.

Birthdays
Up there, serving the Eleventh Doctor a nice bowl of fish fingers and custard, is the young Amy Pond played by Caitlin Blackwood. She was born on this day in 2000 and just happens to be the real-life cousin of the older Amy Pond, Karen Gillan. But, fact fans, the pair had never met prior to working on Doctor Who together!

Happy birthday young Pond.

Join us again tomorrow for another round-up of the episodes broadcast, the spin-offs, the special events, the birthday's celebrated and anything else of note that went down on this day in Doctor Who history.
