October 2nd
BOOM!

Did I scare you? Don't worry it's only part 4 of Galaxy 4 (titled The Exploding Planet, geddit?) which was watched by 9.9 million viewers when it was broadcast for the first time at 5:50pm on Saturday October 2nd 1965.

Today in Doctor Who history only gives us one more episodes of the series which received its premiere broadcast, and for that we have to head down into the quarry with the Fourth Doctor and Sarah Jane for part one of The Hand Of Fear. Broadcast in 1976 at 6:11pm, it was watched by 10.5 million viewers.

Join us again tomorrow for another round-up of the episodes broadcast, the spin-offs, the special events, the birthday's celebrated and anything else of note that went down on this day in Doctor Who history.
