October 7th
Before we get to Jodie Whittaker and the start of the Chris Chibnall era we have two classic episodes of Doctor Who that received their debut broadcast on this day in the show's history.

First up, it's part two of The Abominable Snowmen which was broadcast in 1967 and watched by 6 million viewers. Then, in 1978, it's the second chapter in The Key To Time arc and it comes in the form of part two of The Pirate Planet. 7.40 million viewers sat down to watch that Fourth Doctor adventure.

But the award for both highest watched and most recent episode of the week goes to the opening installment of series eleven. The Woman Who Fell To Earth debuted on October 7th 2018 with a mightily impressive 10.96 million UK viewers tuning in for Jodie Whittaker's first outing as the Thirteenth Doctor.

Join us again tomorrow for another round-up of the episodes broadcast, the spin-offs, the special events, the birthday's celebrated and anything else of note that went down on this day in Doctor Who history.
