figures are for UK premiere broadcasts unless otherwise stated.
October 8th
It was the beginning of the end for the First Doctor as on October 8th 1966 The Tenth Planet got underway at 5:52pm with 5.5 million viewers watching. Even though William Hartnell's departure had already been announced, I doubt many of those viewers had any kind of idea what was coming.
Moving on to the Fourth Doctor era and Saturday October 8th 1977 saw part two of The Invisible Enemy receive its debut broadcast, to an audience of 7.3 million viewers.
Spin-Offs
October 8th 2007 saw 1.18 million tuned into part one of The Sarah Jane Adventures.. er... adventure Eye of the Gorgon when it received its debut on CBBC that Monday tea-time at 5:30pm.
Join us again tomorrow for another round-up of the episodes
broadcast, the spin-offs, the special events, the birthday's celebrated
and anything else of note that went down on this day in Doctor Who
history.
