November 3rd
We begin our daily round-up of all things Doctor Who related with a birthday. Up there at the top of the screen on the left is Mr Richard Hurndall who starred as the First Doctor in the twentieth anniversary special The Five Doctors. He was born on this day in 1910 and passed away just a year after The Five Doctors was broadcast at the age of 73.
Episodes Broadcast
Now for some actually episodes of Doctor Who and as you can see from the screen grab above the Fourth Doctor is just about to slip on some Barry White and share a romantic time with a heavily engorged Creature from the Pit, part two of which was broadcast on November 3rd 1979 at 6:07pm and watched by 10.80 million viewers who promptly washed their eyes out with soap afterwards. Perhaps.
Spin-Offs
We have one spin-off that received its premiere broadcast on this day in Doctor Who history, and it's part one of The Mark of the Berserker. 1.43 million CBBC viewers were tuned in for The Sarah Jane Adventures on this day in 2008.
Join us again tomorrow for another round-up of the episodes broadcast, the spin-offs aired, the special events, the birthday's celebrated and anything else of note that went down on this day in Doctor Who history.
