Today In DOCTOR WHO History: December 29th

The Wombles, Jackanory, Star Turn, Simon In The Land Of Chalk Drawings, Tufty, Buzby... Bernard Cribbins is the voice of my youth.

Welcome to our daily round-up of the Doctor Who episodes which received their premiere broadcast on this day throughout the show's long history, along with anything else of note that may have taken place. You can click on any red text to read our full retrospectives/reviews for that episode, and note that all viewing figures listed are for UK broadcasts (unless otherwise stated).

December 29th
Today is Bernard Cribbins birthday. Not only did he play Wilfred Mott during the Tenth Doctor's era, but he also portrayed Tom Campbell in the mid sixties big screen Dr. Who movie, Daleks' Invasion Earth 2150AD, and is quite simply a national treasure. Happy birthday to you Sir!

There's also a pair of classic adventures which premiered on December 29th across the years, both from the 1970s to be exact. First it's part three of The Time Warrior which was broadcast this day in 1973 and watched by 6.6 million viewers. The Fourth Doctor added 2.2 million more to that figure when part two of The Horns of Nimon was broadcast 6 years later.

Join us again tomorrow for another round-up of the episodes broadcast, the spin-offs aired, the special events, the birthday's celebrated and anything else of note that went down on this day in Doctor Who history.
