The things people will do to get their Equity card!
Welcome to our daily round-up of the Doctor Who episodes which received their premiere broadcast on this day throughout the show's long history, along with anything else of note that may have taken place. You can click on any red text to read our full retrospectives/reviews for that episode, and note that all viewing figures listed are for UK broadcasts (unless otherwise stated).
January 21st
A right pair of oddities make up today's Classic Who offerings. And not that we'd ever recommend/endorse the use of any recreational drugs but for the love of god in no way should you watch either of these under the influence. They will mess with your freaking mind! First from the pot of weirdness we go back to 1967 and episode 2 of The Underwater Menace which drew an audience of 7.5 million viewers. Then, on to 1978 for part three of the CSO weirdness that is Underworld, which was watched by 8.9 million people. Prime examples of Who at its surrealist if ever there was a pair.
Join us again tomorrow for another round-up of the episodes broadcast, the spin-offs aired, the special events, the birthday's celebrated and anything else of note that went down on this day in Doctor Who history.
