Today In DOCTOR WHO History: April 28th

The Third Doctor proves to be useless with a BBQ, today in Doctor Who history...

Welcome to our daily round-up of the Doctor Who episodes which received their premiere broadcast on this day throughout the show's long history, along with anything else of note that may have taken place. You can click on any red text to read our full retrospectives/reviews for that episode, and note that all viewing figures listed are for UK broadcasts (unless otherwise stated).

April 28th
Today is basically a Dalek Day, with one classic Dalek episode and one modern Dalek episode broadcast. The classic being the part four of 1973's Planet of the Daleks which, as you can see from the screengrab above, saw 8.3 million viewers witness Jo returning from Costa to find the Third Doctor has poured too much lighter fluid on the Barbecue. The modern being the second part of the Series 3 two-part Dalek story Evolution of the Daleks which was watched by 6.97 million. A Doctor Who Confidential episode called Making Manhattan followed on BBC Three.

Join us again tomorrow for another round-up of the episodes broadcast, the spin-offs aired, the special events, the birthday's celebrated and anything else of note that went down on this day in Doctor Who history.
