Top 5 HBO Shows to Binge-Watch

It wouldn’t be wrong to say that HBO has changed cable TV forever. When the network was introduced, it started to experiment with original programming and although most of the shows were comedies, there were some groundbreaking hits as well such as The Larry Sanders Show. However, it was the late ‘90s when HBO stepped up a notch and invented ‘Prestige TV’ by producing series like The Sopranos and The Wire. Both of these shows were unlike anything the world has ever seen before. The network is now globally known for its highly original, creative, and quality TV shows. HBO is home to many incredible programs. This article is going to list five of them that are definitely worth a watch.
#1. Six Feet Under
This show is a prime example of what prestige TV is all about. It debuted in 2001 and completed five seasons. This series tells a story of a family that runs a funeral home in Los Angeles. Six Feet Under is a show about death. The program depicts the death of every character that came to the funeral home one fateful week. This show generated a huge buzz all across the country not just for its captivating storyline but also for the amazing performances of the cast members. It was created by Alan Ball who is also behind another hit series True Blood.
#2. Veep
If you are in the mood of watching something light and fun then Veep is your answer! It is a highly entertaining comedy show that you will certainly find amusing. It is created by Armando Iannucci. The show casts Julia Louis-Dreyfus as the Vice President of the United States of America. The show features a fresh story that is extremely engaging. It ran for seven seasons. This series became a major hit and received positive reviews from different publications. Moreover, it won a whopping seventeen Primetime Emmy Awards.
#3. Crashing
Crashing is a show for those who love stand-up comedy. This series is produced by Judd Apatow. The series is loosely inspired by the real-life story of Pete Holmes who after his divorce thought of giving stand-up comedy a serious try. The show featured many guests including Sarah Silverman, Bill Burr, and Jim Norton. Crashing only lasted for three seasons. But it is a fun show where you will get to see how Holmes’ career took off.
#4. Westworld

Westworld is another great show that deserves all the praise. It is created by Lisa Joy and Jonathan Nolan. It is a sci-fi series that features some really cool ideas. The storytelling is on point but can get a bit confusing at times. There is a theme park in the world of Westworld where humans can interact with robots. These robots are programmed to be villains, friends, and even romantic companions. This show will blow your mind away with its stellar production. And not to mention the amazing cast members that feature in the show including, Anthony Hopkins, Evan Rachel Wood, James Marsden, Jimmi Simpson, Ed Harris, and Tessa Thompson. This list would have been incomplete without Game of Thrones. It is created by D.B. Weiss and David Benioff. The show starred a cast of super talented actors including Emilia Clarke, Sophie Turner, Sean Bean, Kit Harington, Lena Headey, and Richard Madden. Everything about this show screamed grand. It was simply one of the most epic fantasy stories told in any medium. It doesn’t matter if you liked the show or hated it, you cannot deny the impact that it had all over the world. Everyone was hooked on the show. It was that amazing! This show is definitely a masterpiece that the world may never get to experience again.
