Today In DOCTOR WHO History: May 10th

Mr and Mrs Tennant start the day off with a bang...

Welcome to our daily round-up of the Doctor Who episodes which received their premiere broadcast on this day throughout the show's long history, along with anything else of note that may have taken place. You can click on any red text to read our full retrospectives/reviews for that episode, and note that all viewing figures listed are for UK broadcasts (unless otherwise stated).

May 10th
We begin today in our look back into the Doctor Who archives back in 1969 with episode 4 of the epic Second Doctor adventure The War Games. It was broadcast at 5:15pm and watched by 5.7 million viewers, all with no idea that the Time Lords would be making their debut in just six weeks time! Moving on to 1975 and another episode 4, this time for the Fourth Doctor - it's Revenge of the Cybermen, and it was watched by 9.4 million.

Then it's new-Who time, and the now husband and wife team of David Tennant and Georgia Moffett starred together in 2008's The Doctor's Daughter. Gerogia Moffett, as you likely know, is Peter Davison's daughter, so in real life she was already the Doctor's daughter, in a sense, before she became the on-screen Doctor's daughter, before she became the Doctor's real life wife! Yes, it does sound like some kind of soap opera plot, although the 7.33 million viewers tuning into BBC One at 6:45pm that Saturday weren't bothered by such triviality. And some of them stuck around for Sins of the Father, the Doctor Who Confidential episode that was broadcast afterwards from 7:30pm on BBC Three.

Join us again tomorrow for another round-up of the episodes broadcast, the spin-offs aired, the special events, the birthday's celebrated and anything else of note that went down on this day in Doctor Who history.
