Top Grossing Films Of 2022

The year is slowly coming to an end, and 2022 has been a fantastic year for the film industry. Cinemas saw the return of many audience demographics, helping the industry get back on its feet, and there were several box office hits. Today’s article will look at some of the top-grossing films of the year and what made each international hit.

1) Top Gun: Maverick

Top Gun: Maverick is the second installment in the Top Gun franchise, and it grossed more than $1.486 billion worldwide. Not only is Top Gun: Maverick the highest-grossing film of the year, but it’s also Tom Cruise’s highest-grossing film ever.

Cruise’s reprisal of his role from the original film attracted many viewers to the movie, and the franchise’s newest additions, such as Miles Teller, interested younger demographics after scenes from the film went viral on social media apps. The film’s screenplay was written in 2012, but the death of director Tony Scott derailed production. Top Gun: Maverick was dedicated to Scott, and its success has more meaning than just generating an incredible revenue.

2) Elvis

While Elvis doesn't compare to Top Gun: Maverick, the film was an international success, and it grossed $286 million worldwide against its budget of less than $100 million. It has become the second-highest-grossing music biopic ever and stars Austin Butler as Elvis and Tom Hanks as Colonel Tom Parker.

When people think of Elvis, they often think of Las Vegas, which features a key location in the movie. Las Vegas was once the epicenter of gambling but the casino industry has largely moved online since. Modern gamblers have virtual alternatives to taking a trip to Las Vegas and watching performers at the level of Elvis. Many gamblers choose to play online, using sites like Bonusfinder for a detailed overview and analysis of key site features such as different welcome bonus promotions and offers.

Las Vegas has certainly changed over the decades, but many forget that this is where Elvis made one of the best films of his acting career, Viva Las Vegas. The excess and bright lights of the Las Vegas strip play an integral role in creating Baz Luhrmann's retelling of Elvis' story. We see Parker manipulate and trick Elvis into signing a Las Vegas casino residency instead of the world tour he wanted. Many regard this instance as one of the many defining events in Elvis’ life.

3) Jurassic World Dominion

Jurassic World Dominion is the third installment in the Jurassic World trilogy and the sixth film in the Jurassic Park franchise. The film was a financial success, grossing $1 billion worldwide. It’s the second-highest-grossing film of the year, despite critics giving the film negative reviews.

Like Top Gun: Maverick, many actors reprised their roles from the Jurassic Park trilogy in the film, such as Sam Neill, Laura Dean, and Jeff Goldblum. Their return was the first time the three actors had appeared together since the 1993 film; this nostalgia brought many different demographics to cinemas to watch the movie.

As the year comes to an end, we look back fondly at the films that were released in 2022 and topped the charts. A lot of creativity, hard work, and passion went into making these films, and their financial success is what the cast and crew deserved.
