Appreciating that his name has been linked to a Star Wars casting rumour for some time, it now seems that there might just be some truth in Benedict Cumberbatch being pursued for Episode VII.
Not a day goes by when someone isn't linked to the new trilogy, a lot of that can be written of as fan speculation or potential wish list casting. But a new report over at MarketSaw has some very interesting information that emanates from their top Star Wars source, who so far has been spot on about everything. Along with the returning actors, he names some of the new people that have been cast:
"Ian McDiarmid, Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, Mark Hamill, Billy Dee Williams, Anthony Daniels, Warwick Davies, Benedict Cumberbatch and Gary Oldman. I believe Cumberbatch and Oldman were pursued for the same role, but I don't know how that will work out with the script changes, but I'm told they are both involved."Gary Oldman already said that he'd been contacted for a potential role and we'd be quite happy to have Benedict Cumberbatch in there too. The report goes on to explain the story will revolve around twins taking the path towards darkness. It also says that Harrison Ford is negotiating for 2 more Indiana Jones adventures.
With filming due to start shortly, we must be near some official confirmations, but what do you think?
Can you see Benedict Cumberbatch in Star Wars? Is Harrison Ford just too old for Indy?
