Yep, it's finally happening - "Superman vs Batman’ will lead into ‘Justice League.'" - the words of Warner Bros. president of worldwide production Greg Silverman. It will be directed by Zack Snyder. Henry Cavill is expected to return as Superman, along with Ben Affleck and Gal Gadot, who play Batman and Wonder Woman, respectively.
Warner Bros. have recently been casting the role of Cyborg, a half-robotic hero who is expected to have a cameo in “Batman vs. Superman” and then appear in “Justice League.” Other DC heroes who have been in Justice League comic books include Aquaman, Flash and Green Lantern.
Who could be playing those heroes?
Rumour has it that Ben Affleck may just be joined by his old buddy Matt Damon (no, not as Robin - but that would be all kinds of awesome!). Damon's name has been attached to that of Aquaman, according to Jeff Snyder at The Wrap:
"One casting rumor that has been circulating around Hollywood for more than a year is that Affleck's close friend and collaborator Matt Damon is being sought to play Aquaman, though to be fair, Jason Momoa has also been rumored for that role (among others), and he is expected to appear in “Batman vs. Superman” in some unknown capacity."
It's thought that the movie will be fast tracked and make it into cinemas in 2017, with May 5th the likely date - expect an announcement at Comic Con this year.
Finally, there could also be plans for a Wonder Woman solo movie. Warner executives said they are warm to the idea. “That is our hope,” said Sue Kroll, president of worldwide marketing. “With the right script, that could be viable. The world is ready for her.”
