The Power Rangers have already had two movie adventures, the original in 1995 and Turbo in 1997, but today Lionsgate and Saban have announced that the original Mighty Morphin team will be returning to your multiplex in a new re-envisioned franchise.
Saban launched Mighty Morphin Power Rangers as a live action television series more than 20 years ago, and the series has been in continuous production ever since. Over the years the Power Rangers have gone from being the original Mighty Morphin version through Alien, Zeo, Turbo, Space, Lost Galaxy, Lightspeed Turbo, Time Force, Wild Force, Ninja Storm, Dino Thunder, S.P.D., Mystic Force, Operation Overdrive, Jungle Fury, RPM, Samurai, Super Samurai, Megaforce and are currently in the 2014 line-up of Power Rangers Super Megaforce - plus there's a Dino Charge version due in 2015.
But now movie studio Lionsgate are teaming with Haim Saban to bring the Power Rangers back to the big screen. According to their press release...
"The new film franchise will re-envision the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, a group of high school kids who are infused with unique and cool super powers but must harness and use those powers as a team if they have any hope of saving the world."So it's kinda like a big budget reboot, which seems like a sensible idea to me. The kids will love it and the parents will likely appreciate the nostalgia trip back to the early 90s.
Are you on board for a new Power Rangers movie?
