"Do you like owls?"
It's been almost two years since the first rumblings of a possible Manimal movie. At that time it seemed like a pretty bizarre thing to do, after all Manimal was freaking awful!
If you're one of the lucky ones who has never seen the show, Manimal stared Simon MacCorkindale as Dr. Jonathan Chase, a wealthy doctor with a mysterious past who could morph into animals in order to help the police fight crime. It debuted in the Fall of 1983, and lasted 8 episodes!
I guess there's a lot of comedy potential in it though, which is why this news kinda makes sense. Will Ferrell and Adam McKay have signed up as producers for the new movie, which promises to be a live-action/animation hybrid.
McKay said:
"Like The Catcher in the Rye or The Sound and the Fury, Manimal has always been one of those elusive projects every producer dreams of taking to the silver screen. I know the movie will be funny and entertaining but will it be the first film to win a Pulitzer? We'll just have to see."No word on the cast, but this could be perfect territory for Ferrell.
Would you go watch a big screen Manimal movie?
