Zavvi ZBOX "Undead" Unboxing

This weekend I took delivery of my first ZBOX. What's a ZBOX you may ask? Well I shall tell you...

ZBOX, from Zavvi, is a themed monthly mystery box for fans of games, movies, cult TV, comic books and purveyors of all things popular culture. Each month’s box is strictly limited edition, and the contents varies from month to month based on the theme. Previous months have seen a 'Justice' theme (featuring Batman and Superman Pop! Vinyl amongst the contents), and a 'Cosmic' theme (including a Dancing Groot, a Star Wars t-shirt and lots more).

All I knew before delivery was that this month's box theme was 'Undead', and that the box would feature a range of products that tied in with the theme, with one of them being an exclusively designed, limited edition t-shirt.

So let's get to the unboxing...

Nice detail on the box interior to pick up on the Undead theme, but I'm instantly drawn to The Walking Dead MiniMates...

Perfectly timed for the TV return of The Walking Dead, I've got the Governor and Bruce from the comics. Next up...

Top left, it's a DVD called Zombies: The Living History - I've just got through watching it and it was pretty interesting. Most people believe zombies to be a recent phenomenon, but most people are dead wrong (excuse the pun). This 90 minute+ documentary explores the real story of zombies, beginning (quite surprisingly) at the dawn of civilisation.

You'll also spot some neat badges, a fun Zombie Hunting Permit car sticker and a Brain Licker sweet - it promises brain freeze!

But, next may just be my favourite item in this months box...

I'm a vinyl junkie, and this is perfect. A green vinyl 7" single featuring music from John Carpenter's The Fog. It's atmospheric, and pretty awesome.

Now, as for that exclusively designed, limited edition t-shirt...

...I'm wearing it now as I type, and it's good quality too. Illustrated by artist Dan Mumford, it's very 'Walking Dead'-ish and a welcome addition to my geek wardrobe.

But wait, there's more! Hidden under the t-shirt...

Proving that novelty socks aren't just for Christmas, it's a zombie themed pair. There's even a toe missing (not literally, on the print design).

As well as all that there's The ZBOX Magazine featuring interviews, Undead themed Cocktail Recipes, information about all the products in the box, and more.

Overall, I'm impressed. It's always cool to get surprises through the mail, and although I was a little concerned the contents wouldn't appeal to me or be up to much, they are all really neat, and of great quality.

You can find out a lot more about ZBOX here, and also discover how to get your own monthly themed box.

Next month, the ZBOX goes retro, can't wait...
