THE WALKING DEAD "Remember" Review

Raff suffers a close shave with The Walking Dead season 5, episode 12...

Ding, dong, the beard is gone! Yes, people, the moment that I have been waiting for finally happened! Rick shaved. I can’t tell you how much I have hated that beard and that weird haircut. He looked proper old. Now though, we have clean-shaven Rick back.

Was I ready for this?

The answer to this question is no! Even when he was in the shower and cleaning up, I did not think that he would shave. Then the camera zoomed in on the razor and my spoon hung hazardly from my hand. My sugar puffs were bouncing off the floor and milk was dripping everywhere! My poor dog was looking from me to the screen and then he ran barking to my mother. He must have thought that I had had a stroke. I was not ready for clean-shaven Rick.

If I am being honest, he looked a bit too baby faced and he wasn’t rugged enough for me until later on in the episode when his 5’o’clock shadow was back. He is yummy.

Daryl
I found it hilarious when the gate opened and Daryl shot an animal so that they could bring lunch. He is the only one of the gang who seems to think that it is too good to be true and by the end of the episode, which was two days in Alexandria, he still hadn’t showered and Carol was itching to clean his vest.

He is not settling in at all and proceeded to gut the poor animal for meat, on the doorstep of their new house. For some reason this struck me as hilarious.

Carol
I found Carol to be the best in this new world. Her “audition” video was the most sarcastic thing I have ever seen! I thought she was going to be truthful, and then she said that she missed her husband and I nearly spat my sugar puffs everywhere. I wasn’t sure why she was lying until the very end of the episode when she said that they needed to play their part, and Rick said that they would take Alexandria if things didn’t work out.

Then, it clicked for me, that whilst everyone else was busy trying to fit in some of them are focused on pulling the wall over their eyes and not making out that they are as sharp as they are. I have no doubt that Rick and the gang could take this place if needed because these people are a bit naïve about the world surrounding them.

The point where Carol “struggled” to put her massive gun on the table when they handed their weapons over was brilliant! Her smile just cracks me up. I can’t wait until they see what she is really like.

Aiden
I hate him, I hope that he is the first to go and was so happy when Glenn punched him. I mean, seriously? Why is it a good idea to leave a zombie tied up (when their skin slides off) as opposed to putting a pole through its head? Get a grip!

Deanna
I actually do like her. She doesn’t seem too naïve about people, even her own people really. I loved it when she thanked Glenn for punching Aiden. Oh My God, I hate him so much.

Carl
I felt a bit sad for Carl in this episode because it was clear that even though he wants to be a kid again, he is clearly more comfortable killing walkers with his Dad. He also doesn’t want people to get too settled there because their lives would be at risk.

The Uniform
The only thing that I didn’t really like about this episode was that Rick had a police uniform at the end. I don’t know, it just didn’t sit right with me. Especially since we don’t know who was a constable before him and where that person is. You can’t tell me that there has been no law and order in this town since the invasion and the army started to herd people there. It just seemed iffy to me.

Overall, I was so excited about this episode and I loved the introduction of Alexandria as a change to the show.  My most favourite bit of the episode was Daryl telling Carol she looked ridiculous in her “mother-hen” clothing.

Can’t wait until next week!

Rating: 8/10
