The new 1964 Summer collection from M&S was not the hit the company had hoped it would be. Still, snapped up by the BBC they made good use of it in the costume department. Like here, in episode 4 of The Sensorites (titled Hidden Danger) which was watched by 7.4 million viewers and is the only episode of Doctor Who to receive its television debut broadcast on July 11th across the show's long, long history.

But there is also this for your ears...

The first radio drama in the Torchwood: The Lost Files mini-series, The Devil and Miss Carew, received its debut broadcast at 2:15pm on BBC Radio 4 on July 11th 2011. It aired just after Series 4 of Torchwood (Miracle Day) began, but was set before Series 3 of Torchwood (Children Of Earth), hence the Lost Files subtitle.

Join us again tomorrow for another round-up of the episodes broadcast, the spin-offs, the special events, the birthday's celebrated and anything else of note that went down on this day in Doctor Who history.
