Today In DOCTOR WHO History: July 26th

The Eve of the war!

July 16th
Hello! You look great today. Thanks for dropping by. Sadly, we have a confession. No episodes of Doctor Who received their debut broadcast on July 26th throughout the show's long, long history. But, today is Eve Myles birthday. Yay, let's have cake.

Born this day in 1978, Eve Myles first guest starred On Doctor Who in 2005 when she played Gwyneth in the Ninth Doctor story The Unquiet Dead, but she is, of course, better known for playing Gwen Cooper, the female lead in Torchwood.

Myles described her character to The Western Mail thus:
"Gwen starts off as a police officer in Cardiff and then gets involved in the Torchwood team. She's a very down-to-earth girl, kind and generous, but extremely ambitious, feisty, intelligent and witty. But she's also very human — she's really the girl next door. Because I'm playing her, I put a lot of me into it and I take a lot of my own characteristics."
Happy Birthday to you!

Join us again tomorrow for another round-up of the episodes broadcast, the spin-offs, the special events, the birthday's celebrated and anything else of note that went down on this day in Doctor Who history.
