Don't you just hate it when the Jehovah Witnesses come knocking?

September 23rd
Welcome to another in our regular round-ups of the episodes broadcast on this day in Doctor Who history. Hang on, who's that at this hour? An unwanted visitor comes a knocking...
"Get your foot out the door, I don't want a copy of The Watchtower!"
Were those words possibly heard on September 23rd 1967 in the Doctor Who episode broadcast on that day? Well, no they weren't, but I suspect if anyone had come knocking at the door trying to sell their religious ways then the 7.4 million people tuned into BBC One 5.50pm that day for part 4 of the Second Doctor classic adventure The Tomb of the Cybermen would not have been too happy about it. Honestly, making them miss the final climatic part of the story and not even offering a chance to celebrate Christmas. Pah!

Two regenerations later and the Fourth Doctor has a fourth episode of his own to bestow upon you. September 23rd 1978 would see the Doctor and Romana pursued by the Graff in the catacombs whilst they try to locate the first segment of the Key to Time. 7.9 million viewers tuned in for the last installment of The Ribos Operation.

Join us again tomorrow for another round-up of the episodes broadcast, the spin-offs, the special events, the birthday's celebrated and anything else of note that went down on this day in Doctor Who history.
