Today In DOCTOR WHO History: November 25th

Seconds later Tom violently vomited over Peter's coat...

Welcome to our daily round-up of the Doctor Who episodes which received their premiere broadcast on this day throughout the show's long history, along with anything else of note that may have taken place. You can click on any red text to read our full retrospectives/reviews for that episode, and note that all viewing figures listed are for UK broadcasts (unless otherwise stated).

November 25th
Today we have four adventures for you, all of which have received very strong 7 million+ ratings. The first being part Three of The Ice Warriors which is now sadly missing from the BBC's archive (along with the previous installment), so unless you were one of those 7.4 million people who tuned in for this Second Doctor adventure back in 1967 then you've likely only seen the animated recreation.

Next up, the Fourth Doctor began a new adventure on this day in 1978, with part one of The Androids of Tara watched by 8.5 million viewers.

Although the above episode wins the award for highest number of viewers for a November 25th premiere, the big one for this day storywise arrived back in 1983 when 7.7 million people tuned in to the 20th Anniversary special The Five Doctors which was broadcast as part of that evening's Children In Need. Fun fact - it had already premiered two days previously in the USA, on Doctor Who's actual anniversary.

The not quite as big one for this day, but still putting up decent numbers and winning the award for most recent episode of the day, goes to The Witchfinders, which was broadcast on this day in 2018 to an audience of 7.21 million people.

Join us again tomorrow for another round-up of the episodes broadcast, the spin-offs aired, the special events, the birthday's celebrated and anything else of note that went down on this day in Doctor Who history.
