Five rounds rapid for another day in Doctor Who history...
Welcome to our daily round-up of the Doctor Who episodes which received their premiere broadcast on this day throughout the show's long history, along with anything else of note that may have taken place. You can click on any red text to read our full retrospectives/reviews for that episode, and note that all viewing figures listed are for UK broadcasts (unless otherwise stated).
December 8th
December 8th is not exactly the biggest day in Doctor Who history as it brings us just one actual episode and one from a spin-off. On the Doctor Who episode front we have the Fourth Doctor and Romana facing the Nightmare of Eden on this day in 1979. Part three drew an audience of 9.6 million viewers.
Spin-Off
As for the spin-off, take a look at the top of the page... Nicholas Courtney is back as the Brigadier for what would be his final in-canon appearance in the world of Doctor Who. He's joining in with The Sarah Jane Adventures to tackle part two of Enemy of the Bane, which was broadcast in 2008 at 4:35pm and watched by 1.26 million viewers.
Join us again tomorrow for another round-up of the episodes broadcast, the spin-offs aired, the special events, the birthday's celebrated and anything else of note that went down on this day in Doctor Who history.
