Do you remember these classic Doctor Who games?

Doctor Who has had a truly massive impact on the world, with the television show widely regarded as being a cultural phenomenon. Fans of the British science fiction television programme are known to debate various issues around the show, purchase merchandise, and ultimately feed what is a community of dedicated and loyal viewers.

Thanks to the worldwide success of the show, numerous developers have tried to cash in on the series with a game or two, some registering huge success, while others fail to really make the grade alongside the array of other creations which gamers have on offer these days. There are traditional gaming choices on offer, where gamers can learn the betting rules when playing blackjack at casino.com/nz, alongside other mobile games such as Among Us and Fortnite, coupled with the array of console choices available these days also. That’s not to say a Doctor Who creation can’t compete, of course, but ultimately your average avid gamer probably isn’t into the series.

Many fans of the show have continued to get their Doctor Who fix via the world of gaming, though. If you’re one of them, then you might remember the classic Doctor Who games of old. Here’s a look at some of them.

Doctor Who: The Adventure Games
Doctor Who: The Adventure Games wouldn’t stand up against today’s sophisticated gaming releases, but for its time it was definitely a blast to play. Released in 2010 and 2011, this series of games was available to play via Steam for Windows and Mac users and featured some familiar voices, including the much loved Matt Smith, Arthur Darvill and Karen Gillan. The five games in the series generally involve intense exploration and the usual puzzle-solving games and mini games that Doctor Who gamers have become so familiar with.

Doctor Who Legacy
A popular game on Android, Kindle, Facebook and iOS, Doctor Who Legacy is a free to play puzzle RPG creation which many fans of the show couldn’t get enough of. Although the gameplay and graphics aren’t the best, the game itself is still entertaining as you attempt to build up your team of characters and take down some baddies. The game ultimately comes down to who is the last one standing. Fancy your chances?

LEGO Dimensions
After a crossover with a range of iconic franchises, Doctor Who was featured on TT Games’ LEGO Dimensions game. Available on Wii U, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360, and registered big success compared to many other Doctor Who games. A fun and entertaining release thanks to its LEGO features, you’d come across familiar foes in this game as the likes of Daleks, Cybermen and Weeping Angels stand in your way as you progress throughout the game. There are puzzles to crack and funny scenes, all contributing towards what is a truly fun and entertaining Doctor Who creation. So much so in fact, that for many it’s the best Doctor Who game ever.

Top Trumps: Doctor Who
Everyone knows what Top Trumps is, right? Well, there is indeed a video game version of it based on Doctor Who. After launching on Wii, DS, PS2, and Windows in 2008, Top Trumps: Doctor Who was exactly what you’d expect from a Top Trumps game as players are given a deck of cards and then the option of choosing which card they think will beat the attributes of an opponents card. It isn’t the most graphically advanced game you’ll ever play but Top Trumps has never needed to be.
