Today In DOCTOR WHO History: May 1st

The Eleventh Doctor goes surfing in the woods, today in Doctor Who history...

Welcome to our daily round-up of the Doctor Who episodes which received their premiere broadcast on this day throughout the show's long history, along with anything else of note that may have taken place. You can click on any red text to read our full retrospectives/reviews for that episode, and note that all viewing figures listed are for UK broadcasts (unless otherwise stated).

May 1st
Part two of The Space Museum was broadcast on this day in 1965, titled The Dimensions of Time (Not to be confused with Dimensions in Time! My lord! Please do not confuse it with that!!) it was watched by 9.2 million viewers. Two regenerations and 6 years later, part four of the Third Doctor adventure Colony in Space was watched by 8.1 million viewers.

Now let's catch a wave and return to this day in 2010 when Flesh and Stone was broadcast to an audience of 8.5 million BBC One viewers, all of whom confused as to why the Eleventh Doctor was surfing through the forest! No answers were given during Blinded By The Light, that week's episode of Doctor who Confidential which followed on BBC Three.

And it's Sacha Dhawan's birthday today. Master opposite Jodie Whitaker's Thirteenth Doctor, Dhawan was born in 1984. Happy birthday to you.

Join us again tomorrow for another round-up of the episodes broadcast, the spin-offs aired, the special events, the birthday's celebrated and anything else of note that went down on this day in Doctor Who history.
