Today In STAR TREK History: June 16th

"Arms! Come here!" What do you mean, it's not that type of call to arms?
Welcome to our round-up of the Star Trek episodes which received their premiere broadcast on this day throughout the show's long history, along with anything else of note that may have taken place. All viewing figures quoted are for U.S. premiere broadcast (unless noted).

June 16th
On this day in 1997, the fifth season of Star Trek: Deep Space Nine was coming to an end with an episode titled Call To Arms. Faced with the realisation that the Dominion are taking over the Alpha Quadrant, Sisko decides to mine the entrance to the wormhole with self-replicating cloaked mines, thus beginning the Dominion War.

An essnetial watch, marking the start of DS9's celebrated Dominion war story arc, as Call To Arms ends the Dominion captures Deep Space Nine; this leads into a six-episode story arc at the beginning of the sixth season depicting life on DS9 under Dominion occupation and Starfleet's efforts to retake the station. Mind you, viewers would have to wait three and a half months for that to all get underway.

Join us again next time for another round-up of the episodes broadcast, the movie's released, the special events, the birthday's celebrated and anything else of note that went down on this day in Star Trek history.
