Top 5 Casino Based Movies

Who doesn’t love a casino movie? The glitz, the glamor, and the endless possibilities for a great storyline. There is no wonder that so many movies are based around the casino industry. Here are the top 5 casino-based movies of all time.

Casino Royale (2006)
Most people would recognize this as a James Bond movie, but did you know that it is actually a remake of the 1967 film of the same name? This was Daniel Craig’s first outing as James Bond, and he made a fantastic job of it. The movie was set around the luxury resorts of Montenegro and Monte Carlo. This movie has everything that you love about the genre: gorgeous cars, stunning women, thrilling chases both in the cars and on foot, as well as some of the best poker playing you will be likely to see. Bond takes on the villain Le Chiffre in a battle of wits and Texas Hold’Em.

Ocean’s 11 (2001)
This film is another remake, but don’t hold that against it as this is a great action movie. The original starred actors from the Rat Pack and the remake stars some of the biggest actors of the time too. It is the story of eleven professional criminals who attempt to pull off a casino heist worth $150 million in some of the most famous casinos in Las Vegas. A must-see if you like casino movies.

The Hangover (2009)
This hilarious movie is the first one of a trilogy and starts with Doug’s bachelor party on the famous Las Vegas strip. Things get more serious when the group wakes up the next morning in a luxury hotel but Doug is missing. There is then a race against time to find the missing groom before the wedding. This puts them in some hilarious situations and even sees a cameo role for the legendary boxer, Mike Tyson. What more could you want from a casino movie?

Casino (1995)
This is one of Robert De Niro’s finest moments. It is a fantastic film set around the Tangiers Casino in Las Vegas. This is a crime thriller that sees De Niro’s character taking over the running of the casino. Some unfortunate events occur which looks like it will spoil the whole setup. This film is chilling, thrilling, and directed by Martin Scorsese. It looks like so much fun you will want to join in and play yourself. You don’t need to pause the movie though. 21 (2008)
This is a true story based on a student that needs $300,000 to attend Harvard Medical School and achieve his dream of becoming a doctor. His math professor lets him join a group of gifted students who are taught to count cards before traveling to Las Vegas to try their luck with their newfound skills. The casino realizes the group is cheating and suddenly they have more to worry about than playing Blackjack.

If you like casino movies you may have seen these classics already. If not, open the popcorn and get watching.
