Play gaming history in you browser for free right now!

The ColecoVision, The Philips Videopac and The Atari 2600, we have many a fond memory of these classic consoles and now you can revisit those early days of gaming absolutely free.

The good people at The Internet Archive have created a new Console Living Room where you can relive those misspent hours of gaming fun directly in your browser. You can choose from a massive collection of games from the consoles we mentioned above and other early gaming platforms.

It's down to a nifty little emulator called JSMESS, that runs a multitude of platforms so that you can play any one of the hundreds of titles that are currently in their library, and they are adding new ones all the time.

We've just been playing Mario Bros from the Atari 2600, and on the same platform you can even sample the notorious E.T. The Extraterrestrial (although we wouldn't recommend it!)...

The Console Living Room is primarily about making sure these games do not disappear forever, after all, millions of unsold copies of the Atari E.T. cartridge ended up in landfills in Texas!

As well as the machines we've mentioned, there are also collections of games from the Atari 7800 ProSystem and The Astrocade. There are some real classic Arcade games to be found here; Double Dragon, Galaxion, Dig Dug, Space Invader, Pac-Man, Donkey Kong and so so many more. Our favourite one so far has been the Atari 7800 version of Impossible Mission...

Hop over to the Console Living Room and save yourself a fortune in 10p's!
