With the rights to Indiana Jones now in Disney's hands there have been repeated rumblings about a new outing for our favourite archeologist. We've heard talks of a multi-picture deal with Harrison Ford, to not just reprise his role as Han Solo in Star Wars but to also pick up the bullwhip at least one more time. But now a report is claiming that if Indiana Jones 5 does not come together pretty quickly Disney will go ahead with a recast, and they've got a very interesting name at the top of the list.
Clearly this is completely unconfirmed, but Latino Review, who are usually pretty reliable with this kind of thing, had this to say:
Our ever reliable sources are informing us that while Harrison Ford might still play Indiana Jones in the next film of the franchise, the window of making that happen is getting smaller and smaller. There is a date and if Indiana Jones 5 is not moving forward by then, the studios are 100% prepared to recast a younger Dr. Jones and ready up a new trilogy. Let’s be realistic, Harrison is not the box office draw he once was and he is only getting older.
As hard as it would be to see a new Indy film without Ford, I'm not opposed to either Cooper or Darabont joining the project. Ford isn't getting any younger and it would be nice to see a new trilogy of movies for a new generation to enjoy the same way we did in the 80s.
And who just might be one of the actors that the studio is looking at ? The word is that they are looking at several but Bradley Cooper is at the top of the list. As to who might be writing the next Indy? We are hearing that Frank Darabont might be taking a crack at the franchise once again.
