THE FLASH Season 1 Episode 14 Review: Fallout

Patrick Delaney deals with the fallout...

How does a nuclear explosion just, kind of, tear your cloths.  Don't get me wrong, I am totally okay suspending my disbelief and accepting that two men survived the blast, but what I will not accept is that most of their cloths made it.  Just no.  Either the clothes magically make it out unscathed, or they are obliterated outright.

I enjoyed learning more about Firestorm and how Ronny and the Doctor form together and become almost a new hero.  I'm calling it now, with the Atom being introduced in Arrow, the CW is building up to the poor man's Justice League. I know, that sounded a little harsh but believe it or not, I did not mean it in a bad way.  It would be really cool to see a super hero team of Flash, Arrow, Firestorm, Atom, and Batman. That's right, stop pussy footing around with that Gotham show, just man-up and do Batman. Come on CW, just put your balls on the table.

I wasn't a huge fan of the villain though.  He just didn't seem to have an edge and was too soft spoken. Maybe I watch to many movies, but I expect my evil military commanders to yell everything they say. I am also not really sure why Dr. Wells helped the villain and then later betrayed him... why not just do the betraying first? I know, twist betrayals have to happen at the end of the episode, but I just felt the whole rescue mission made no sense. I also felt bad for Dr. Snow because she got her boyfriend back for one episode but it felt like Cisco was happier to see him than anyone else. When Ronny leaves at the end and Catlin says "I'm fine, I don't feel heartbroken" I totally believe it, because I just never believed they were together. Seriously, most of the season Cisco has been searching for him and whenever he asks Catlin, she's just like "Don't worry about... you don't have to look for him" ... I'm just saying... a bit of an ice queen, am I right?

O ya, the money shot!!  Who's a terrifying killer monkey??  You are!!  I will admit that I was a bit bummed out when this week's episode did not start with killer talking apes... but hey, what can you do?  We did get another teaser at the end of the episode as our lame military villain was served fresh to my new favorite character.  Come on, first appearance and he has the coolest line in the whole show so far!  "It's not God... It's Grodd!" Please, don't make me wait another week.  Killer science monkeys needs to be a thing now.

Also we discover that Barry watched his mom die twice... smooth bro. It does look like, the show is planting seeds for Flashpoint? Flashpoint was the DC event that rebooted the DC universe a few years ago, and as you can tell ... Flash was heavily involved. I won't spoil it, but seeds have been planted... and seeds grow ... into trees .... that bare fruit  ... which is finally eaten... by killer science monkeys... aaaand scene.

Patrick Delaney is a nerd baptized in the flames of Dungeons and Dragons, who would grow up reading comic books, and watching Star Wars like it was the only three movies ever made.. this nerd would one day share his opinions .. on the internet.
