BEARLANDS: A Bear With No Name

Gail waxes lyrical about Bearlands.

"A Bear With No Name"
♫On the first part of the journey
He was looking around for his wife
There were bikes and ghosts and rattling tins
There was open spaces and frightening things
The first thing he met was a flesh eating bear
His sword gave the neck a great tear
The heat was hot and the ground was dry
But his fuel's running low

He goes through the desert, he's a bear with no name
The undead have become his life's bane
There's no one left to remember his name
But there's zombears there for to give him more pain
La, la, la-la, la, la

After some days in the desert sun
Lost Vegas it's effectively dead
Now some miles to Beartertown
He's looking at a moat of undead
Guards bar his way, The Father lets him in
All due to the honey that pays

You see he's been through the desert this Bear with no name
He got slung in a cell for his pain
Inside there's plenty there for to give him some pain
La, la, la-la, la, la

The Father says that the honey's a lie
Ridgetown Raiders steal the supplies
There were bad bears and surprising good deeds
there is fear and thrills and fur
The comic is a story of a life underground
And a perfect disguise above
Inside the Father lies a heart made of vice
But the Bear will give no love

You see he's seeking his kin this bear with no name
It felt good his freedom to regain
He can search now for those who bear his name
First he's gonna give the Father much pain
La, la, la-la, la, la♫

In case you didn't get it from the above, I thoroughly enjoyed reading all about these zombie bears. Have to admit, I also love the real zombie bears - and no I'm not imagining them. There are real zombie bears, the creators of Bearlands buys standard teddy bears and makes them into zombie bears, which he sells at Comicon, and on-line. And yes, my family does wonder if there's something wrong with me.

My rating on this: A definite five out of five.

Issues 1 to 6 of Bearlands are available now. Find out more at www.subversivecomics.com.
