Since 1984, Tetris has been a popular game across the world for 35 years. It's one of the oldest games on this list but is still popular today and being played by a large part of the world’s population. Over the years, the game has appeared on just about every platform and has quickly developed, with color being introduced, and different levels of complexity to make the gameplay even more exciting. It's hard to come across a gamer that has never heard of Tetris.


2. Super Mario Bros
Super Mario Bros is another timeless classic game that has spawned an endless stream of sequels, each one more technologically advanced than the previous. It has been so popular it even holds the title of being the first video game to receive the live-action film treatment. Some people love the 1993 film, others detest it. Whatever your thoughts, best believe that this timeless classic is a top-rated game to date.


3. Pokemon
From Pokemon green, red, yellow and blue, the 1996 release of this game series made a run for fame. PUBG is another Battle Royale making news all over. Like Fortnite, it was released in 2017, with the following year seeing it sell over 50 million copies! It is among the top best-selling video games of all times, and with free mobile downloads as a popularizing strategy, this game has over 400 million registered players in PUBG and PUBG mobile combined.


8. Wii Sports
You may not think much of the Wii Sports game today, but since the launch of Nintendo Wii it has amassed a staggering 82.86 million copies sold. A lot of that is thanks to it being bundled with the console during its big sales period, but whatever the reason Wii Sports is the biggest selling single-platform exclusive game of all time, and is yet another big win for Nintendo.

If you are talking of famous games, you cannot exclude Minecraft. With some gamers ranking it as one of the top 5 addictive games in the market, Minecraft has outstanding sales of over 176 million copies, with an additional 200 million free users registered in China, according to Mojang.


10.  Diablo III
With more than 30 million copies sold, this dungeon crawler hack-and-slash action role-playing game was developed and published by Blizzard Entertainment in 2012 as the third installment in the Diablo series. Diablo III became a big hit in 2015, three years after its release, thanks to an expansion pack. Since then it has amassed sales of over 30 million copies, making it one of the most popular video games of all time.
