Today In DOCTOR WHO History: November 20th

Nice beard.

Welcome to our daily round-up of the Doctor Who episodes which received their premiere broadcast on this day throughout the show's long history, along with anything else of note that may have taken place. You can click on any red text to read our full retrospectives/reviews for that episode, and note that all viewing figures listed are for UK broadcasts (unless otherwise stated).

November 20th
It's back to the early days of Who now for the second episode of The Daleks' Master Plan, titled Day of Armageddon, which gets us underway. It was broadcast at 5:50pm on Saturday November 20th 1965 and watched by 9.8 million viewers. Eleven years later, the fourth and final part of The Deadly Assassin was watched by 11.8 million viewers.

Related Programming
It was briefly canon but now it's not. Still, the second episode of the 40th Anniversary animated web adventure Scream of the Shalka was released onto the BBC's Doctor Who website at noon on this day in 2003.

Finally for November 20th, CBBC viewers were keen to see episode two of The Sarah Jane Adventures story The Gift, so it was a good job they only had to wait 24 hours between installments! When the second part aired in 2009, 0.89 million were watching.

Join us again tomorrow for another round-up of the episodes broadcast, the spin-offs aired, the special events, the birthday's celebrated and anything else of note that went down on this day in Doctor Who history.
