Today In DOCTOR WHO History: November 22nd

Don't you just hate it when you go to a fancy dress party and someone else is wearing the same costume!

Welcome to our daily round-up of the Doctor Who episodes which received their premiere broadcast on this day throughout the show's long history, along with anything else of note that may have taken place. You can click on any red text to read our full retrospectives/reviews for that episode, and note that all viewing figures listed are for UK broadcasts (unless otherwise stated).

November 22nd
Four classic episodes of Doctor Who have received their premiere broadcast on November 22nd, the first of which, chronologically speaking, was part one of the Fourth Doctor adventure The Android Invasion which was broadcast on this day in 1975 at 5:47pm and watched by huge 11.9 million viewers. Beat that State of Decay! Oh, you can't. By 1980 the poor old Fourth Doctor had lost half his viewers, with just 5.8 million tuning in.

If you think the Fourth had it bad then spare a thought for poor old Sixie. Twelve weeks now he's been stood in the dock for The Trial Of A Timelord! Still, not long until he gets some refreshing "carrot juice" *shudder*. Before that though we have part four of Terror of the Vervoids which was broadcast on this day in 1986 and watched by 5.2 million viewers.

Three years later and the end was nigh. Part one of Survival aired at 7:35pm on Wednesday November 22nd. 5 million loyal fans tuned in, whilst 15 million other Brits watched Coronation Street! There really is no accounting for taste.

Join us again tomorrow for another round-up of the episodes broadcast, the spin-offs aired, the special events, the birthday's celebrated and anything else of note that went down on this day in Doctor Who history.
