Today In #DoctorWho History: November 16th

Welcome to our daily round-up of the Doctor Who episodes which received their premiere broadcast on this day throughout the show's long history, along with anything else of note that may have taken place. You can click on any red text to read our full retrospectives/reviews for that episode, and note that all viewing figures listed are for UK broadcasts (unless otherwise stated).

November 16th
Across the years three episodes of Doctor Who have received their premiere broadcast on November 16th, all of them come from the classic era of the show. But before we get to them, how about a lovely slice of mutli-Doctor shenanigans?...

A double dose of Doctor Who treats arrived on this day as part of the 2007 and 2012 Children In Need appeals. Above you'll find the fifth and the tenth starring in Time Crash, and below we have the prequel to The Snowmen, The Great Detective.

But back to those episodes...

Episodes Broadcast
...As mentioned, they're all from the classic years, and they all also happen to be part three's of their respective stories. Firstly, one from the Second Doctor adventure The Invasion which was broadcast on this day 47 years ago to 7.1 million viewers. Five regenerations later and we have 1987's Delta and the Bannermen, and the following year's The Happiness Patrol. Respectively they were watched by 5.4 and 5.3 million viewers, the latter bunch all finding themselves subliminally craving Liquorice Allsorts.

After having to wait a full 23 and a half hours, those lucky 0.81 million CBBC viewers were treated to the second and final part of the 2010 The Sarah Jane Adventures story Goodbye, Sarah Jane Smith.

Join us again tomorrow for another round-up of the episodes broadcast, the spin-offs aired, the special events, the birthday's celebrated and anything else of note that went down on this day in Doctor Who history.
