Today In #DoctorWho History: January 12th

Welcome to our daily round-up of the Doctor Who episodes which received their premiere broadcast on this day throughout the show's long history, along with anything else of note that may have taken place. You can click on any red text to read our full retrospectives/reviews for that episode, and note that all viewing figures listed are for UK broadcasts (unless otherwise stated).

January 12th
Wow, a bumper day of classic Doctor Who episodes for us to round-up from the show's 56 year history. To start with we have part one of Invasion of the Dinosaurs which was broadcast January 12th 1974 and watched by 11 million viewers. In 1980 The Horns of Nimon was coming to an end, and part four of the story was watched by 10.4 million people.

Then we have three from the Fifth Doctor all broadcast on this day. Tuesday January 12th 1982 saw the final part of Castrovalva broadcast at 7:05pm, and watched by 8.6 million viewers. Arc of Infinity also came to an end this day in 1983 when part four was watched by 7.2 million. The following year part three of Warriors of the Deep drew an audience of 7.3 million.

One final Classic era story for this day, and it's from the Sixth Doctor. Part two of Attack of the Cybermen was broadcast in 1985 at 5:22pm. Season 22 included 13 45-minute episodes, and this one was watched by 7.2 million viewers.

And then we have Who of the Nu variety, and SuperNu at that! It comes in Thirteenth Doctor form and it's Orphan 55 premiered on January 12th 2020 at 7:10pm. 5.38 million Benni loving fans joined the Doctor at the spa.
