Welcome to our daily round-up of the Doctor Who episodes which received their premiere broadcast on this day throughout the show's long history, along with anything else of note that may have taken place. April 22nd
Back to 1967 for episode 3 of the Second Doctor story The Faceless Ones, a story which was watched by 7.9 million viewers. Then in 1972 it's another episode 3, this time for the Third Doctor - The Mutants drawing the exact same size audience of 7.9 million.

On to new-Who and Tooth and Claw, broadcast this day in 2006 at 7.18pm was watched by 9.24 million viewers. Only 5.98 million were tuning in come 2017, when the Twelfth Doctor asked us all to Smile.
