Today In DOCTOR WHO History: April 7th

Tensions rose when Gerald Dalek cast the deciding vote during the 1973 Bouffont Hair Wearer of the Year competition.

Welcome to our daily round-up of the Doctor Who episodes which received their premiere broadcast on this day throughout the show's long history, along with anything else of note that may have taken place. You can click on any red text to read our full retrospectives/reviews for that episode, and note that all viewing figures listed are for UK broadcasts (unless otherwise stated).

April 7th
Just one classic episode and one modern episode broadcast on this day. The classic being the opening episode of 1973's Planet of the Daleks, which was watched by a mighty 11 million viewers. The modern being the second story of Series 3, The Shakespeare Code, an episode which was watched by 7.23 million at 6:59pm on Saturday April 7th 2007, and was immediately followed by the Doctor Who Confidential episode Stage Fright on BBC Three.

Join us again tomorrow for another round-up of the episodes broadcast, the spin-offs aired, the special events, the birthday's celebrated and anything else of note that went down on this day in Doctor Who history.
