Today In STAR TREK History: June 21st

Let's descend into another day in Star Trek history.
Welcome to our round-up of the Star Trek episodes which received their premiere broadcast on this day throughout the show's long history, along with anything else of note that may have taken place. All viewing figures quoted are for U.S. premiere.

June 21st
On this day in 1993 the finale of the sixth season of Star Trek: The Next Generation aired. Titled Descent, Part I it saw the Borg begin a new offensive against the Federation, but this time they're acting as individuals. Data also experienced his first emotions while fighting them, and in the opening segment the android could be seen playing poker on the holodeck with simulations of Isaac Newton, Albert Einstein and Stephen Hawking, the latter being played by himself. 11.7 million people tuned in on the night, they then had to wait three months for Descent, Part II to find out the resolution of the cliffhanger.

Join us again next time for another round-up of the episodes broadcast, the movie's released, the special events, the birthday's celebrated and anything else of note that went down on this day in Star Trek history.
