At yesterdays BFI's Eleventh Doctor celebration event in London, Steven Grand Moff Tarkin clarified a few important Who-related things for us.
Firstly, for Peter Capaldi's first season as the Doctor, or season 8 since Who returned to our screens in 2005, Moff The Magic Dragon confirmed that "there'll be no split". Which is very good news as we like our Who seasons complete and not spread over two years thank you very much! Filming for the new season will start straight after Christmas and is expected to be broadcast in the Autumn of 2014. There should be at least 12 episodes and a Christmas special.
Then when it comes to the numbering of the Doctor, Moffing Bob Fleming cleared things up, "Matt [Smith] is the Eleventh Doctor" he said. After the brilliant Night Of The Doctor minisode when the 8th Doctor, Paul McGann, was seen regenerating into the War Doctor, John Hurt, there was speculation that all the Doctor's after him should move up a number. Eccleston becomes 10, Tennant 11, etc.
But no.
Moffrey Baratheon said "There are only eleven versions [at present] of the Time Lord who call himself ‘the Doctor’." So the numbering definitely stays the same. OK?
Glad we got all that sorted!
