You've gotta love eagle eyed geeks! Whilst the rest of the world is happy just to watch the action going on during an episode of Game Of Thrones, uber-nerds are out the dissecting every little detail and piece of scenery on view. And I'm not saying that's a bad thing, oh no! Not when they make discoveries like this one.
Over on the ASOIAF subreddit, a user called NoMoreHodoring uploaded this photo...
There's young King Joffrey, sat on his Iron Throne. the photo was accompanied with the caption, “Is that Gandalf’s sword in the Iron Throne?”
And my Lord, it really does look like it is. Has Lord Of The Rings made an 'Easter Egg' style appearance in Game Of Thrones?
But wait, there's more!
User darknogra added "directly to the right of that seems to be the Robin of Locksley hilt also!", and I believe it could well be...
A later comment from Elio_Garcia revealed "Having visited the set during the first season filming, I got a very close look at a protoype of the Throne in a half-completed state that was in their prop room, they collected weapon molds from all sorts of sources. I specifically recall that several of the swords had marks indicating that they had originated from Ridley Scott's Kingdom of Heaven."
I'd guess that if you look really closely at the Iron Throne, and you were an expect on swords, you might find all sorts of gems in there.
