Six weeks before it's scheduled broadcast date, the first episode of Doctor Who series 8, Deep Breath, is currently available for download on a multitude of Torrent sites. The rough cut version of Peter Capaldi's debut episode is in black and white, missing some CGI and features Matt Smith's title sequence.
This video leak follows the release onto the internet of the first 5 scripts from series 8 due to a security breech on a server in the BBC Worldwide office in Miami. The rough cut video for the first 5 episodes were also briefly available, but it was initially believed that the video footage was removed before any had been completely downloaded However, it now seems that at least one person did manage to complete a download of at least the debut episode before it was removed on Monday 7th July, because today the file has started to appear on some of the larger file sharing sites.
A spokesperson from the BBC said:
Steven Moffat was asked about the script leak earlier today at the London Film & Comic Con. He said the leak was:"This is part of BBC Worldwide's ongoing security investigation into leaked unfinished Doctor Who materials. This content is currently being removed and originates from the same Miami server disabled last week, it is not a new issue. We'd like to thank the amazing Doctor Who fans who are continuing to keep fansites and social media spoiler-free."
"Horrible, miserable and upsetting for Doctor Who team."As tempting as it may be, I'm sure you'll hate yourself for watching it. Plus, it's kinda illegal too!
Hold out and wait until we can all see the finished product. #keepmespoilerfree
